Anti-Bullying Ambassadors
The pupils and staff at Markyate Village School believe there is no place for any forms of bullying in school. The Government has not set out a legal definition of bullying. However, it’s usually defined as behaviour that is:
- repeated
- intended to hurt someone either physically or emotionally
- often aimed at certain groups, for example because of race, religion or gender
It takes many forms and can include: physical hurting, teasing, making threats, name calling or cyberbullying - bullying via mobile phone or online (for example email, social networks and instant messenger)
Here at Markyate Village School, we have an Anti-Bullying Policy that makes it clear that no forms of bullying will be acceptable in our school. This year, we have 10 new Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, from years 2 to 6, who support all the children in keeping our school a safe, kind and bullying-free environment for everyone. Our team includes: Jack and Harriet (Year 2), Tommy and Myla (Year 3), A.J and Poppy (Year 4), Sidney and Charlie (Year5), Ellie and Isabella (Year 6).
Markyate Village School has signed up to the Diana Anti-Bullying Programme for training, resources and teaching initiatives for young people. You can visit the Diana Anti-Bullying website at: https://diana-award.org.uk/anti-bullying/
